Today, a few ladies from St. Luke's Jerome came by to drop off a Walmart card for us to use for student supplies. The employees are so generous to us each year. I took the ladies through the halls to a tour of the new walking path, which they thought was great and they commented on the bright new walls and name plates. I told them how hard you all worked this summer to get that done. Sister Barbara said, "Did you hear that! Teachers doing that over the summer!" (Insert large grin.) They noticed all the games on the black top, and again I told them of your efforts. Again, Sister Barbara said, "Did you hear that? Teachers doing that for kids!" Come to find out Sister Barbara had been a principal at one time and she was beaming with joy. The other ladies were quite impressed. I was very proud to be your colleague. Thank you for making all of these stories possible for Jefferson and our kids!
Did you know you can "like" Jefferson on Facebook? I hope you will. We are going to try to share more of these amazing learning stories. But, I do need help. Please send me pictures and captions of great things going on that we can post, and encourage your friends to like our page. We'll do more advertising for parents around conference time.
Recess Duty
I think we might have a few more changes to the recess schedule tomorrow, so hold tight and we'll get you a final copy either this weekend or early Monday. A couple of things that we will add after consulting with BLT:
- a designated spot to be for the duty
- one of the duties will include blacktop and bathroom monitoring
- folks designated to have the orange clipboards and radios.
Reading Curriculum
Thanks for your patience. We are trying to get books out to you, but new student placement has taken our focus for the last few days.
Bathrooms
We have a few students who will be using the bathrooms in the office and SPED room this year. Please do not impede or slow them in their process to get to those locations. They know where they are going and we would like to avoid "messes." Thank you for your help. :-)
Fire Drill
Sorry folks, but we legally have to do a drill once a month. We will be doing a drill next Monday in the afternoon. Please prep your kids. We will also give a warning announcement so that our little ones won't be too scared. Let me know if you have a student you are concerned about.
Calendar and Appointments
We have a number of events coming up. Please make sure to accept appointments sent to you and accept the calendar sharing sent your way. All of these things are meant to keep you in the loop and well prepared with your own personal and professional plans. If you are new to Jefferson and need some help with your Google Calendar, I am glad to come help.
Staff Meeting and Collaboration
Please note that we will normally have staff meetings on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, but I have scheduled a quick staff meeting for this coming Tuesday. (Sorry Melisa! I forgot about this one.) We will review a few important procedural things. Next Friday's collaboration will be together to discuss the beginning of the 7 Habits at Jefferson! So excited for this one!
